Who can explain how to book tickets for Split-Vis ferry?

  Featured   Resolved

Is there anyone who managed to book ferry tickets connecting Vis island with any city on the Croatian coast? I've tried on www.jadrolinija.hr (largest local ferry liner), but there is no any link to bookings.

Currently the option of buying/booking ferry tickets online doesn't exists for Croatian ferry lines. Tickets should be purchased a day before or on the same day of the trip. If you are going to take ferry boat with car then your most important step is to put your car into the queue for Vis island, before purchasing tickets. Order of entrance to ferry boats in Split port is by the order of arrival, so in the high season (July and August) this becomes more relevant. It is because when ferry is in its full capacity, those who couldn't enter have to await for another departure and that could be even day after. So, listen to me, ask to those boys and girls uniformed in white outfit, where is your destination's queue and, once there, then go to buy your tickets.

Hello comets. Your answer is very helpful. There is only one thing I didn't understand completely: who are those boys and girls in white outfit?? Are they working in the port?

Recently Jadrolinija, a ferry liner that connects Split and Vis, redesigned its website. Now it's far better than before. Especially its search functionality, located on the homepage, was greatly improved. Still, only few catamaran speedboat lines in north Adriatic area can be booked online. For Vis that is still not possible. For your peace of mind there is a telephone number of Jadrolinija's office in Split. Agents on that number are very quick (I've never waited more than 2 rings) in responding any question you may have. Here is the number: +385 21 338 333....The best contact center service experience I had in Croatia so far. Ups, I almost forgot to put their email here ag.split (at) jadrolinija.hr

Hello Tam, You're right: guess I thought that everybody know those young boys and girls, in white uniforms, working in the port of Split. Since in the summer the affluence of tourists is greater than in other time of the year, local police authorities traditionally offer to high school and university students summer jobs, aimed to help tourists with traffic information. Here is a picture of how they look like so you can recognize them (and ask them anything about traffic and directions):
